Disaster Recovery / Records Preservation

Assisted by a grant from the Georgia Department of Archives the Council is working to educate both Superior Court Clerks and their funding agencies about the importance of disaster planning and preparedness.
The initial effort is focused on identifying the current state of preparedness in Georgia’s court system through comprehensive questionnaires. Next steps will include the provision of disaster planning templates and a communications outreach to state and local officials about the importance of such planning.
Further coordination with the Department of Archives will address more capital intensive measures over the next few years. These measures include the installation of fire suppression systems in all courthouses, structural improvements to courthouse facilities and imaging systems that enable cost effective offsite storage of critical court documents.
